As backpacks get packed, alarm clocks get set, and hallways buzz back to life, there’s one thing we all need more than fresh school supplies and sharpened pencils: prayer.

Whether you're a parent sending your child into a new school year, a teacher preparing your classroom, or a student stepping into a new chapter—this prayer is for you.

Let’s take a moment and cover this school year in faith.

A Prayer for the New School Year

Heavenly Father,

As a new school year begins, we come to You first—with hearts full of hope, but also aware of the weight this season brings.

We lift up every STUDENT walking into a classroom this year.

Lord, protect their hearts, minds, and souls in a world eager to shape them through culture, screens, and subtle lies.

Fill them with truth. Draw their hearts toward You. Build their character. Deepen their faith. Spark revival in this generation. May they hide Your Word in their hearts so they may not sin against You.

We pray for safety over every campus, bus route, hallway, and playground. Let no child feel unseen or unloved. Lord, for the one who feels alone—send a friend, a mentor, a kind word from a teacher or classmate to remind them: they belong.

We lift up every TEACHER preparing to guide and shape young minds.

God, push back anxiety and give them clarity, energy, and strategy. Help them see beyond the surface to what each student truly needs—not just academically, but emotionally, spiritually, and physically.

Give them strength to serve, joy in the journey, and wisdom in the moments that feel overwhelming.

We pray for PARENTS as they send their children into a world they can’t always protect them from.

Draw their hearts closer to You, Lord. Show them how to be a leader of their child’s education and not a bystander.

Grant them discernment, courage, and peace as they parent children who are called to be in the world but not of it.

And Lord, we lift up every school, every district, every city, every state, and every nation. Let Your will be done in every classroom. Let Your presence be known in every hallway.

We entrust this year to You, God—the One who goes before us and walks beside us.
